In 2023, we had the pleasure of supporting our talented employee, Caleb Bate, as he embarked on a personal project at a relative’s home. With the expertise and resources of Milliken Builders behind him, Caleb transformed a charming Miner’s Cottage by adding a stunning deck and pergola.
The design, crafted by Allan Besednjak, of ALS Drafting, seamlessly blends modern elements with the historic charm of the cottage.
Caleb took the reins as project manager, overseeing every detail and contributing significantly to the carpentry work himself.
Our team provided invaluable support, offering building advice, on-site carpentry, equipment and subcontractor referrals. The result is a beautifully finished space that perfectly marries old-world charm with contemporary design.

The homeowners were particularly appreciative of Troy Milliken’s (builder) suggestion to enclose the southern side of the deck. This thoughtful addition allows the homeowners to use the deck more frequently, even in bad weather, and enables them to leave their furniture out most of the time, adding convenience and enhancing their outdoor living experience.
